We have had a very productive week in Kestrels, as we have nearly finished writing our paper rocket instructions and have made orreries!

We have gotten off to a rocket-fuelled start this term in Kestrels, which has involved: challenging mathematics, instructional English and planetary theme!
Mathematics has provided us with a challenging analysis of place value - not just solving simple questions, but testing our reasoning and problem solving skills. A mixture of missing number questions, true or false questions and word problems have proved worthy opponents for us, however we're not letting these questions bring us down (we'll leave that to gravity). Paper rockets were the focal point of our theme and English. We have combined these two in order to test our designing and refining skills in collaboration with our ability to write a set of instructions on the paper rocket making process. After a couple prototypes and several drafts later, we are becoming masters of rocket design! Overall, we're thoroughly enjoying our start to the year and look forward to sharing many more blog posts about our learning. |
