We were very fortunate to have a special guest speaker in this week to discuss the upcoming Medieval Festival. Her name was Penelope and she was able to tell us everything we needed to know about the festival. From the history of the battle, to the specific weapons and tools used during the Medieval period. Kestrels really appreciated Penelope coming in as it has made us even more excited about the Medieval Festival!

We have been incredibly luck this week to have the London Sinfonietta in school over the course of two days!
Members of the orchestra group shared their brilliant musical skills with us, notably playing the instrumental side of a song that we sang as a KS2 group - Fast Car, by Jonathan Dove. Each class was also able to have a more one-to-one session with a member from the orchestra. Kestrels were luck enough to listen to Ollie's vibraphone and ask him questions about how we got into music. We'd like to extend our sincere thanks to the London Sinfonietta - you've given us a memory to last a life time! We have started a new story unit this summer term using a book called Emmanuel's Dream. To begin with, we've been discussing and rehearsing the story orally in order to understand the language and structure of it. Below are some photos showing our group performances, in which we added actions to words to help us emphasise their meanings.
At the beginning of this summer term we visited Bristol town centre in order to observe and record information about the city's human and physical features. We went to a range of places in the town centre collecting data, discussing the effects of physical features and explaining why there are so many human features.
