The question above has been the focus of our R.E. days during this part of the summer term. We have looked carefully at the teachings of Jesus from different parts of the New Testament (notably in Matthew and Luke) to identify teachings of his that Christians use practically.
As well as summarising our thoughts about these teachings and explaining what we think they mean, we also acted out one of the stories recalled by Luke (The Centurion's Servant). This enabled us to gain a good understanding of the message that Jesus was trying to share with people about the word of God. The class have been fantastic with their thoughtful responses to the question and respectively sharing them with one another in class.

Every week we have / will be watering our sunflowers and taking good care of them. So far some of our sunflowers have sprouted, some have not and others have grown to great lengths already! In addition, we are summarising the progress of our sunflowers and what we have done to ensure they're getting the nutrition and sunlight they need, We look forward to sharing more of their progress and pictures with you.
Kestrels have started to grow their own sunflowers! Everyone in the class has their own flower pot, in which they laid some compost, carefully placed a sunflower seed and added more compost to provide nutrients from all angles! In addition, we gave our seeds some water and will now play the waiting game. Watch this space for more news!
This week we have discussed the importance of being aware of how social media can influence what we do. Kestrels had a great discussion about how it can influence us, such as what we buy and our friendships. Furthermore, we discussed a scenario in which someone was given a negative comment online about their appearance. Everyone talked about how this could influence what someone thinks and does; we then gave suggestions on post-it notes on how to handle the situation (using methods including blocking that person and talking to a trusted adult).
