It has been a fantastic week in Kestrels and across the school as we have been a lot more active! We've learnt about numerous topics including: nutrition, hydration and the benefits of exercise. Simultaneously, we've enjoyed a variety of activities including: Sports Day running and field events, yoga, assault courses and fun races. Overall, we've been able to gain an improved understanding of why we must look after our health and exercise regularly.

Kestrels had a fantastic time at the Medieval Festival Schools’ Day as we were able to learn about some of our local history through living aspects of it. Our activities included: squire training; medieval music and dance; learning archery and spear drills; visiting the King and Queen’s camps; fighting on Bloody Meadow to re-enact the decisive battle. All of these activities taught us just how integral the Battle of Tewkesbury was to the War of the Roses and that it is important to remember it. This week we were able to share our learning with family during our Theme Open Afternoon.
Our learning focused on developing our persuasive writing skills, using a charismatic person (Kid President) as inspiration. Kid President spoke about the importance of having dreams and ambitions; he stated that it's important to dream and live your life fully. We took Kid President's uplifting words and used them to fuel our own persuasive speeches, encouraging people to live their dreams. After some hard work developing ideas and drafting our own speeches, we shared some with each other. Thank you to the family members for coming - we really appreciate it! |
